Inclusion

As we continue our focus on Building Relationships and Community this month, we are excited to take a deeper dive into inclusion over the next few weeks. Our aim is to help Innovators recognize the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels valued and accepted. Through guided activities and discussions, we’ll explore what it means to be an includer—someone who goes out of their way to invite others into conversations, games, and projects, regardless of their background, abilities, or differences.

Inclusion is a value that goes beyond the walls of our center, and we encourage you to explore ways to practice it at home. You can start by checking out the resources we recommend:

The Art of Inclusion: Teaching Students to Be Includers toolkit offers great ideas for helping your Innovator understand what it means to actively include others in everyday activities. Explore the resource here.

Building an inclusive culture at home begins with conversations about respect and understanding. Learn more about creating an open and accepting environment with practical tips from this article. Read more here.

Watching films that celebrate diversity is a fun and engaging way to teach inclusion. Check out 10 Movies That Teach Kids About Diversity and Inclusion for some great viewing recommendations. Find the list here.

By reinforcing these ideas at home, you’ll help strengthen the sense of community we’re building here at Innovation. Let’s continue to empower our Innovators to be compassionate, inclusive leaders, both at our center and in the world beyond!
